Errors in the verification files cannot be eliminated by editing. Instead, they can be eliminated by deleting the verification list or the verification list data file.

If errors are found in only the verification lists, it is not necessary to restore from a backup. You can attempt to correct the errors using the method specified for the particular error code. If the errors still exist in the verification lists, it is possible to eliminate the error by deleting either the verification list or the verification list data file.

First, try to delete the verification list for the specified User ID. The User ID will be shown on the Error Report (provided that portion of the file is not corrupted). Deleting the list for the specified User ID has the advantage of not losing any verification information for other users. Once the list has been deleted for the specified User ID, rerun the Data File Integrity Check to verify that there are no errors. If there are still errors for the verification file or the Error Report does not indicate which User ID has the error, you can delete the specified verification list data file (via Windows Explorer or a DOS window) without affecting any other data files. However, keep in mind that deleting a verification list data file deletes the verification lists for all users. For example, deleting the T3FEEVER.DAT file deletes all fee verification lists for all users. (Note: When deleting the file, it is not necessary to delete the corresponding *.IDX file.)
