| Individual/Organization Selector |
This option determines whether the contact is an individual or an organization.
Contacts will have different attributes based on which option is selected.
| Individual |
An individual contact is a single person. Individual contacts do not affect other contacts. An individual can be a part of an organization. When an existing organization is selected in the Organization field, all business fields are automatically filled to match the business information in the organization contact. If you change the business information for an individual contact that is associated with an organization, you will be given the option to change the organization instead so that changes can be made to any or all individuals associated with the organization. |
| Organization |
An organization contact is a company, group, or entity. Organization contacts can be associated with multiple individual contacts. When information in the business fields of an organization contact are added or edited, these changes are optionally carried down to individual contacts who are associated with the same organization contact. When changes to these fields are saved, an Update Associated Contacts window will be displayed allowing you to specify which contacts will also be changed. Organization contacts cannot be associated with other organization contacts. |
The default setting of this selector is determined by whether a "/" character is entered. If a Client Name or Contact ID is entered with a "/" character, the selector will default to Individual. If a Client Name or Contact ID is entered without a "/" character, the selector will default to Organization. This setting can be changed by selecting the desired option in the Contact file.
Note: Be sure to use the correct slash ("/") character. Otherwise, if a "\" character is entered, the software will not reverse the name for the Full Name field.
