Tabs3 supports multiple offices for your firm. Before you can take advantage of this feature, each office must be defined as a Location in the Tabs3 Location file. Then, when adding a new client or matter, you can assign a location for each client and matter. Statements and client-based reports (e.g., Client List Report, Client Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Client Productivity, etc.) can easily be run for individual locations, multiple locations or all locations.
If your firm has only one office, simply leave the Location field in the Client file blank.
This field defaults to the Location used for the last client saved during the session. However, when adding a matter for a client, the Location defaults to the Location of the highest numbered matter for that client (provided you are using a Numeric or Mixed Key Type).
The
button can be used to open the Location Lookup window that allows you to view a list of locations and select any location by double-clicking
it.
Right-clicking this field displays a shortcut menu that allows easy access to the Location file for adding or editing purposes.
Example: Let's say a firm has offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. These three locations would be defined in the Location file. Each time a new client is entered, the appropriate location would be specified in the Location field on the Address tab of the Client file. This firm would then have the ability to print separate reports for each office as well as a master report for all locations combined. To even further simplify this, report suites can be defined for all of the desired reports to allow any series of reports to print with virtually a single click of the mouse.
