| Export Data Format |
The Transaction File List and Task Code Billing Report can be exported to a file for use with third-party software or by a third party. Fees, payments and costs are all exported to the same file. All fields in each record are exported.
Transaction Code vs. Task Code Note: The difference between the two reports is that the Transaction File List exports the transaction code whereas the Task Code Billing Report exports the Phase/Task Code and the Activity/Expense Code.
The information exported is always exported in the same format. See the File Format & Technical Information topic for more information on fields that are exported.
The following formats are available:
Note: The options on the Format tab are available only if None is selected for the Export Data Format.
| None |
Select None if you want to generate a regular report and do not plan on saving it to a disk file for use with third-party software. Excel Note: To save directly to a Microsoft Excel file (XLSX, XLSM, or XLS), select None to generate a regular report and select the File option when printing the report. Then select the desired Excel file format from the "Save as Type" drop-down list. The Export Data Format is designed to save a report to a text file for use in software other than Excel. |
| Fixed | Select Fixed if you want each field of each record saved in a fixed field format. |
| Comma Delimited |
Select Comma Delimited if you want each field of each record separated by a comma. Note: Use the Comma Delimited format to import into spreadsheet software. Although the Fixed format can be used to import into a spreadsheet, the Description field is truncated at 250 characters when using the Fixed format as opposed to allowing up to 4,900 characters. [Tip: When importing information into a "general" cell category, some spreadsheet software (including Excel) truncates the field at 256 characters. However, if you change the cell category from "general" to "text", the entire description will usually be imported.] |
| Tab Delimited | Select Tab Delimited if you want each field of each record separated by a tab character. |
| Pipe Delimited | Select Pipe Delimited if you want each field of each record separated by a pipe character (|). |
