A numeric field is a field that represents a non-decimal number such as timekeeper number and rate code.

An alphanumeric field is a field that represents an alphanumeric field such as the client name, timekeeper initials, category description, phone number, client notes, etc. Check box fields are also considered alphanumeric fields (i.e., selected = "Y", cleared = "N").
