A modal window is used when a single record is displayed as part of a process, and will be closed before continuing. When displaying a modal window, an icon is shown on the title bar of a window.

While a modal window is displayed, no other windows can be opened until that window is closed. This can prevent some actions from being performed, such as drilling down to other files. If necessary, you can close the modal window and open the record again in the standard entry window.
