The Compensation Information section is used to create or modify fee compensation rules. For each rule defined, you must specify the following: 1) the firm or an individual timekeeper and type; 2) a percentage; and 3) which working timekeeper the receipts will be taken from. You can optionally designate a range of statement dates or amounts.

Timekeeper

Selecting the Timekeeper option indicates that a compensation percentage from working timekeepers will be given to the selected timekeeper. Maximum of 3 characters (1-999 or A-ZZZ). Enter the timekeeper's number or initials. Only existing timekeeper numbers or initials will be accepted.

The button can be used to open the Timekeeper Lookup window that allows you to view a list of timekeepers and select any timekeeper by double-clicking it.

Type Select whether the timekeeper is Primary, Secondary or Originating. This designation is used solely for labeling purposes on reports that show compensations. Multiple rules for each type can be defined.

Note: The Type field is not available when Firm is selected.

Firm Selecting the Firm option indicates that a compensation percentage from working timekeepers will be given to the firm.
% of Receipts 0.01 - 100.00. Enter in a percentage of working timekeeper fee receipts that you want allocated to the firm or specified timekeepers.

Note: It is important to be aware that the rules are processed in a top-down manner based on the order they are shown in the table, particularly when the total Receipt % exceeds 100% for a specific timekeeper or group of timekeepers..

Taken From

Select the timekeeper or timekeeper level that the percent of the fee receipts will be taken from as compensation. Existing timekeepers, timekeeper levels or "ALL - All Timekeepers" can be selected.

The button can be used to open the Timekeeper/Level Lookup window. This window allows you to view a list of timekeepers and timekeeper levels and select one or more timekeepers and/or timekeeper levels. The "ALL - All Timekeepers" option indicates that the percentage will be taken from all working timekeepers. Timekeeper levels are always shown at the bottom of the lookup window. When a timekeeper level is selected, all timekeepers with that timekeeper level, which is assigned in the Timekeeper file, will be affected by the rule.

Note: New or changed fee compensation rules will not apply to payments that are already allocated. If you want new or changed fee compensation rules to apply to a previously allocated payment, you will need to go through the steps to change payment allocations on the allocated payment after the fee compensation rules have been added or changed.
